🌴 Barbie’s Christmas in Hollywood Standup Comedy Extravaganza

Standup Comedy Delivered, December 11th at the Hollywood Bowl

Barbie’s Sequel means something for Hollywood in 2024

🎤 “Hello, fabulous folks! You know, I recently had the pleasure of spending Christmas in Hollywood, and let me tell you, it was a holiday experience like no other. Hollywood does Christmas with its own flair, and today, I’m here to share some laughter about it. So, fasten your seatbelts, folks, because we’re about to take a hilarious sleigh ride through Tinseltown!

Hollywood Christmas - Barbie Sequel will be Christmas in Hollywood
Hollywood Christmas

Palm Tree “Christmas Trees”: First things first, in Hollywood, we don’t do regular Christmas trees. Oh no, we decorate palm trees! It’s like Santa traded his reindeer for a surfboard. ‘Surf’s up, Santa!’

Celebrity Caroling: You know those charming Christmas carolers who go door to door, spreading cheer? Well, in Hollywood, you might find yourself singing ‘Deck the Halls’ with your neighbor who happens to be a famous actor or musician. ‘Deck the halls with Hollywood stars,’ am I right?

Santa’s Red Carpet Arrival: Now, Santa Claus himself gets the Hollywood treatment. He arrives on a red carpet, poses for photos with fans before going down the chimney. Paparazzi included! It’s like Santa’s the real superstar of the show.

Gift Wrapping with Movie Posters: Forget traditional wrapping paper; in Hollywood, gifts come wrapped in movie posters. That’s right, you could be unwrapping ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Gift-wrapping’ or ‘The Wrapping King.’ It’s like getting a sneak peek of next summer’s blockbusters before they’re even out!

Elf Assistants: You’ve heard of Santa’s elves, right? Well, in Hollywood, Santa’s helpers are more likely to be aspiring actors and actresses trying to catch their big break. ‘Toys today, Oscars tomorrow!’ They’re not making toys; they’re rehearsing monologues!

Movie Marathon Instead of Fireplace: Who needs a cozy fireplace when you can have a big-screen TV playing Christmas movie marathons? I mean, ‘Home Alone’ with surround sound? Yes, please! But here’s the twist – while you’re watching, you might just hear your neighbor practicing lines for their next big audition. ‘Keep the change, ya filthy animal!’

Santa’s Sunglasses: Santa doesn’t need a red nose to stay cool in Hollywood; he’s got his shades on and is ready for a sunny California Christmas. He’s got his ‘Ho, Ho, Hollywood’ look down!

Giant Inflatable Snowmen on Movie Sets: You’ll find giant inflatable snowmen on movie sets, and they’re not just for the film – they’re part of the holiday decor! Imagine taking a stroll on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and you’re greeted by a 20-foot snowman. Classic Hollywood!

Holiday-Themed Premieres: Hollywood studios release holiday-themed versions of their movie premieres. ‘Star Wars: The Santa Strikes Back’ anyone? I heard Yoda has a new catchphrase – ‘Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Force be with you!’ And Chewbacca? Well, let’s just say he’s the best caroler in the galaxy.

Christmas Cameos: It’s not unusual to spot celebrities making surprise appearances as mall Santas or Christmas tree lot attendants. ‘Is that Brad Pitt selling Christmas trees?’ ‘Why, yes, yes it is!’ And Angelina Jolie? She’s there, too, organizing the ornaments like a pro.

But wait, there’s more!

Santa’s Workshop: Beach Edition: Every time I think Hollywood can’t get more unique, I stumble upon Santa’s Workshop: Beach Edition. It’s like someone took the North Pole and gave it a sun-kissed makeover. Santa’s got his surfboard ready for a quick break between toy-making sessions. And the toys? They’re more like mini surfboards, beach balls, and suntan lotion sets. It’s all about keeping it festive and beach-appropriate. You might even find a toy convertible for Ken, complete with a mini surf rack. And don’t forget Mrs. Claus! She’s there, running the show, ensuring every beach ball is perfectly inflated and every mini surfboard is the right shade of festive. She’s swapped her traditional attire for a sun hat and shades, because even Mrs. Claus needs to protect herself from those Malibu rays.

And then there’s…

Beach Bonfire Carolling: Imagine a holiday gathering around a warm bonfire on the beach, roasting marshmallows and singing carols under the stars. The Christmas lights? They’re the stars above and the occasional boat passing by, decked out in festive lights. It’s like our own version of the Northern Lights, just a bit more… Californian. And when the tide comes in, it’s less ‘Silent Night’ and more ‘Move Your Chairs Back Night.’

But it doesn’t stop there…

Ugly Christmas Boardshorts and Bikinis: Hollywood puts its own spin on Christmas fashion. While some folks opt for ugly Christmas sweaters, in Tinseltown, it’s all about ugly Christmas boardshorts for the guys and festive bikinis for the gals. Who needs a warm, fuzzy sweater when you can have a surf-themed one with a Santa riding a wave?

And finally…

Eco-Friendly Gift Wrapping: To wrap up my Hollywood holiday adventure, let’s talk about how we do gift wrapping. In true Hollywood spirit, it’s all about being eco-friendly. Who needs traditional wrapping paper when you have recycled materials and a bit of creativity? Gifts here are wrapped in everything from old surf magazines to reused fabric pieces. It’s not uncommon to receive a present adorned with seashells or tied with a strand of beach grass. One of my friends wraps her gifts in old beach towels. It’s a wrap and an extra gift all in one – talk about a win-win! And let’s not forget the driftwood gift tags. Nothing says ‘thoughtful’ like a piece of the ocean tagging along with your present. So, in Hollywood, our gifts might not come in shiny paper with big bows, but they do come wrapped with love and a touch of the ocean breeze. It’s a Hollywood way of saying, ‘Merry Christmas and let’s save the planet one gift at a time!’

And that, my friends, is a Hollywood Christmas for you! It’s a blend of glitz, glamour, and a good dose of humor. So, whether you’re unwrapping movie poster gifts or singing carols with celebrities, one thing’s for sure – Hollywood knows how to make Christmas a star-studded laugh riot. Happy holidays, everyone, and may your Christmas be as fabulous and sun-kissed as our wonderful town!” 🌟🎄🎥

Barbie Sequel means a Hollywood Christmas

Palm Tree “Christmas Trees”: “Alright, folks, let’s talk about these palm tree ‘Christmas trees.’ It’s as if Hollywood decided, ‘You know what would make Christmas even cooler? Palm trees!’ I mean, who needs pine trees when you can have these tall, elegant palm trees swaying in the holiday breeze? Santa must be a beach bum at heart because he’s ditched the snowy North Pole for some gnarly waves. Now, picture this: Santa riding a surfboard instead of a sleigh, and instead of reindeer, he’s got dolphins leading the way. ‘Hang ten, Rudolph!’ And what do they decorate these palm tree ‘Christmas trees’ with, you ask? Well, it’s not your typical ornaments; it’s mini surfboards, beach balls, and suntan lotion bottles! I guess instead of jingle bells, they’re going for the sweet sound of crashing waves. It’s a California Christmas, where even the trees are catching waves and getting a tan. You know you’re in Hollywood when your Christmas tree wears sunglasses and asks, ‘Do these coconuts make me look fat?'”

Celebrity Caroling: “Now, let’s talk about something truly Hollywood: celebrity caroling. Imagine this scene – you’re belting out ‘Jingle Bells’ with your neighbors, and suddenly, your neighbor isn’t just any neighbor; it’s a famous actor or musician. It’s like your living room has turned into a Hollywood stage. They sing those carols with such passion, you’d think they were auditioning for an Oscar, not just singing ‘Deck the Halls.’ And when it’s your turn to sing, you can’t help but feel a little starstruck. You’re thinking, ‘Do I need an autograph or should I just ask for a selfie?’ But then you remember, ‘Wait, I’m wearing reindeer antlers and singing off-key – maybe not the best time for a selfie!’ So, in Hollywood, caroling is more like a red carpet event, complete with paparazzi and autograph requests. It’s ‘Silent Night’ with a touch of Hollywood glam. And if you hear a neighbor singing ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ and it sounds suspiciously like Mariah Carey, don’t be surprised. In Hollywood, even the neighbors have talent agents!”

Santa’s Red Carpet Arrival: “Alright, now picture this – Santa Claus himself gets the Hollywood treatment. Instead of landing on rooftops, he arrives on a red carpet. I mean, can you imagine the sight? Santa’s sleigh is decked out with twinkling Christmas lights, and he’s got elves walking down the runway, showing off the latest elf couture. There’s a crowd cheering, taking selfies with Santa, and shouting, ‘Santa, over here! Give us that Santa smile!’ It’s like Santa’s the real superstar of the show, and Rudolph? Well, he’s traded in his red nose for a red carpet debut. And let’s not forget Mrs. Claus; she’s there, too, wearing a designer outfit and giving fashion tips to the elves. It’s a festive fashion frenzy! You know you’re in Hollywood when even Santa gets a wardrobe upgrade. ‘Ho, Ho, Hollywood!'”

Gift Wrapping with Movie Posters: “Now, let’s unwrap the Hollywood gift-giving scene. In Tinseltown, they’ve got a unique way of wrapping presents – movie posters! Yes, you heard that right. Instead of traditional wrapping paper, your gifts might come adorned with posters of the latest blockbusters. It’s like a sneak peek of next summer’s must-see movies, right under your Christmas tree! And let’s talk about the creativity – they’re not just using any movie posters; they’re picking the ones with the most explosions, epic battles, and dramatic poses. So, when you unwrap your gift, it’s not just a surprise; it’s a cinematic experience. And if you ever get a poster of ‘The Fast and the Furious’ wrapped around your gift, don’t be shocked if there’s a toy car inside. It’s Hollywood’s way of keeping it action-packed, even during the holidays. Who needs ribbons and bows when you can have car chases and explosions?”

Elf Assistants: “Alright, let’s talk about Santa’s little helpers. In most places, they’re cute, chubby elves working diligently in the North Pole. But in Hollywood? Oh no, Santa’s helpers are more like aspiring actors and actresses looking for their big break. You can hear them saying things like, ‘I’m just working at the workshop for now, but I have a screen test later.’ It’s like Santa’s workshop has turned into a Hollywood casting call. They’re not making toys; they’re rehearsing monologues! And those pointy shoes? They’re not just for fashion; they’re for practicing their ballet moves between gift-wrapping sessions. So, when you see an elf twirling gracefully while wrapping presents, don’t be surprised. It’s all part of their ‘Elf the Musical’ audition. In Hollywood, even the smallest roles come with big dreams and star potential!”

Movie Marathon Instead of Fireplace: “Now, picture this – you’re cuddled up by the ‘fireplace’ during a Hollywood Christmas. But here’s the twist – that ‘fireplace’ is actually a big-screen TV playing Christmas movie marathons. I mean, ‘Home Alone’ with surround sound? Yes, please! But here’s the real kicker – while you’re watching those holiday classics, you might just hear your neighbor practicing lines for their next big audition. ‘Keep the change, ya filthy animal!’ And when it’s time to toast marshmallows, they’re not just toasting marshmallows; they’re toasting their successful auditions. It’s like a cozy Christmas movie night meets ‘America’s Got Talent.’ You know you’re in Hollywood when your fireplace has a remote control and an IMDB page.”

Santa’s Sunglasses: “Alright, let’s talk about Santa’s fashion in Hollywood. Instead of the traditional red hat and coat, Santa’s all about the shades. That’s right, he’s rocking those cool sunglasses, and he’s ready for a sunny California Christmas. He’s got his ‘Ho, Ho, Hollywood’ look down to a T. And you know, it makes sense; those California rays can be blinding! So, while Santa’s delivering presents, he’s also making a fashion statement. ‘I sleigh, I slay!’ Rudolph, on the other hand, is following Santa’s lead and sporting his own pair of reindeer-sized shades. It’s a Hollywood-style holiday, where even Santa knows the importance of UV protection. ‘Sleigh all day, Santa!'”

Giant Inflatable Snowmen on Movie Sets: “Now, imagine strolling through Hollywood, and instead of regular Christmas decorations, you’re greeted by giant inflatable snowmen. But here’s the twist – they’re not just for your neighbor’s lawn; they’re part of the holiday decor on movie sets! It’s like someone decided, ‘You know what would make this action-packed blockbuster even better? A 20-foot inflatable snowman!’ So, picture this: superheroes battling villains, and right in the background, there’s a giant snowman waving its carrot nose. Classic Hollywood! And when you see those snowmen, don’t be surprised if they start rolling down the street during a particularly windy day. It’s not ‘Frosty the Snowman’; it’s ‘Rolling the Hollywood Snowman!’ You know you’re in Tinseltown when even the snowmen are gunning for a cameo in the next blockbuster.”

Holiday-Themed Premieres: “Now, let’s talk about how Hollywood studios celebrate the holidays. You see, they don’t just release any movie; they release holiday-themed versions of their premieres. It’s like saying, ‘Sure, we’ve got ‘Star Wars,’ but for Christmas, it’s ‘Star Wars: The Santa Strikes Back’! I heard Yoda even has a new catchphrase – ‘Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Force be with you!’ And Chewbacca? Well, let’s just say he’s the best caroler in the galaxy. Imagine watching ‘Jurassic Park’ with a holiday twist – ‘Jurassic Sparkle’ – where the dinosaurs wear Santa hats and sing carols between chomping on leaves. It’s Hollywood’s way of saying, ‘We’re taking your favorite movies and adding a dash of tinsel!’ You know you’re in Tinseltown when even the dinosaurs get into the festive spirit. ‘Dino-merry Christmas!'”

Eco-Friendly Gift Wrapping: “Alright, let’s unwrap the Hollywood gift-giving scene a bit more. In Tinseltown, they’ve got a unique way of wrapping presents – movie posters! Yes, you heard that right. It’s Hollywood’s way of keeping it action-packed, even during the holidays. Who needs ribbons and bows when you can have car chases and explosions? It’s like getting two gifts in one – the actual present and a sneak peek of the next blockbuster. And if your gift has a poster of ‘Elf’ on it, well, let’s just say you might find Will Ferrell himself inside your box, ready to spread some holiday cheer!”

Elf Assistants: “Alright, let’s talk about Santa’s little helpers, the elves, a bit more. In most places, they’re cute, chubby elves working diligently in the North Pole. But in Hollywood? Oh no, Santa’s helpers are more like aspiring actors and actresses looking for their big break. In Hollywood, even the smallest roles come with big dreams and star potential. And speaking of stars, rumor has it that one of the elves will be playing the lead role in next year’s ‘Elf 2: Lost in Hollywood’! Keep an eye out for that!”

Movie Marathon Instead of Fireplace: “Now, picture this – you’re cuddled up by the ‘fireplace’ during a Hollywood Christmas. It’s a time for warmth, laughter, and dramatic monologues about the true meaning of Christmas. And if you ever hear someone reciting Shakespeare’s ‘To be or not to be’ by the ‘fireplace,’ don’t worry; it’s just Ebenezer Scrooge rehearsing for his upcoming one-man show, ‘A Christmas Carol: The Hollywood Remix.’ Get ready for some intense ‘bah, humbug’ moments!”
