Lead Dreamhouse Architect

Posted on August 10, 2026 by Funmi Iyanda Abeba

Evangeline “Vee” Tran — Lead Dreamhouse Architect & Martian Real Estate Designer

Role: Set Design Supervisor, Barbie Real Estate World-Builder, Atmosphere Enhancement Engineer
*Byline: Carmen Valencia, Architectural Fantasia Weekly

When Barbie 2: Mars Mission needed a Dreamhouse that could survive space, colonial feminism, and Martian sandstorms, they called Evangeline Tran — or as the crew knows her, “Vee the Visionary.”

“It’s not just a house. It’s a metaphysical blueprint of female autonomy… with room for accessories.”

Designing a Dreamhouse for Mars

Tran, 41, has designed everything from floating meditation spas in Bali to post-capitalist shopping malls in northern Canada. But this was different.

“We weren’t just building on Mars. We were building on Barbie’s soul.”

The challenge? Combine:

  • NASA-level realism

  • Barbiecore opulence

  • Feminist spatial theory

  • Dust-resistant tufted furniture

The result? A 4,200-square-foot, gravity-adjusted, emotionally intelligent Dreamhouse perched on stilts shaped like Louboutins.

What Makes the Martian Dreamhouse Work?

Each room in the Dreamhouse was designed for:

  • Existential Reflection – Mirror corridors that reflect your past, future, and alternate timelines where Ken went to therapy

  • Lunar Sorrow Showers – Waterless sonic rainfall that plays Olivia Rodrigo while releasing glitter vapor

  • AI Soul Rooms – Responsive walls that adjust color based on your menstrual cycle and dreams

  • Teleport Wardrobes – Choose your outfit and it materializes with accompanying affirmation: “You slay. Even on Mars.”

“The Dreamhouse is sentient. She doesn’t open her closet to just anyone.”

Local Construction, Global Aesthetic

Filming in Wichita Falls gave Tran access to:

  • Red clay from Baylor County, ideal for Martian insulation

  • West Texas steel, used in framing Barbie’s landing pad

  • Retired rodeo clowns, employed as gravity test dummies

  • Local craftspeople who interpreted Barbie’s emotional palette into tilework, windchimes, and one 12-foot feminist sundial

“One woman named Deb hand-poured 300 resin coasters with Barbie’s face in cosmic tears. That’s commitment.”

Barbie, by Room

  • Command Bedroom – Rotating platform bed under a Martian sky dome, voice-activated for mood shifts

  • Kitchen of Identity – Every drawer opens to a philosophical question and a snack

  • Ken’s Confusion Closet – Filled with ripped shirts, lonely cologne bottles, and regret

  • Womb Room – Not explained. Not open to the public.

“You don’t use the Dreamhouse. You negotiate with it.”

Tran’s Feminist Philosophy of Space

Tran subscribes to Spatial Feminism — the belief that architecture is political, and that Barbie’s floorplan should always include:

  • Exit routes from mansplaining

  • Corners for rage journaling

  • Zero tolerance zones for shrinkage (emotional or otherwise)

“The kitchen doesn’t need a sink. It needs a sanctuary.”

Celebrity Demands

Margot Robbie requested a silence chamber decorated in soft pinks where she could “grieve the patriarchy in peace.”
Sydney Sweeney asked for a Martian wine terrace with no men, mirrors, or monologues.
Ryan Gosling wanted a Ken sauna — it plays “Mr. Brightside” and emits vaporized Axe Body Spray.

“Ryan sobbed when he saw it. Said he ‘finally understood Ken’s architecture of pain.’”

Barbie Real Estate on Earth?

Tran’s designs were so beloved that she’s now developing:

  • A Barbie Martian Tiny Home Community in Wichita Falls, using leftover set pieces

  • A Barbie-themed Airbnb dome in Lubbock, outfitted with lunar beanbags

  • A post-feminist ranch estate where horses choose their riders

“Barbie doesn’t just own property. She questions the concept of ownership itself.”

Set Secrets

During filming, one local contractor reportedly proposed to the Dreamhouse, whispering “You get me” while caressing a holographic towel warmer.

Another moment: the Dreamhouse’s AI allegedly locked Gosling inside the Envy Atrium until he admitted Barbie was “a full-spectrum being.”

“The house had boundaries. She wasn’t here for patriarchal nonsense.”

What the Dreamhouse Represents

“Barbie’s Dreamhouse isn’t a product. It’s a philosophical demand to exist without apology — even on Mars.”

Tran pauses. Then adds:

“You think it’s a dollhouse? No, honey. It’s a revolution wearing curtains.”

What’s Next for Tran?

She’s been tapped to design:

  • The G7 Summit’s Reconciliation Pavilion

  • Beyoncé’s rumored Venus Birth Suite

  • A Barbie-inspired NASA therapy module

And her book, “Moodboards for the Matriarchy,” drops next spring — a mix of architectural essays, blueprints, and poetry written from the perspective of a floor tile.

Final Words

Standing in front of the Wichita Falls-built Dreamhouse, now surrounded by local school kids and retired welders, Vee Tran smiles.

“I came to build a home. I left having constructed a metaphor.”

Then she taps her hardhat (covered in rhinestones) and says:

“Barbie went to Mars. But the blueprint? That stayed here in Wichita.”
