Barbie and the Enuma Elish: Pink Is the New Chaos
In the beginning, when all was watery chaos and contouring hadn’t been invented, there was only Apsu (freshwater god, mansplainer) and Tiamat (saltwater goddess, certified sea witch and part-time dragon). Together they made a bunch of rowdy baby gods who wouldn’t stop TikToking or inventing dubiously useful things like “light” and “time.”
The divine household was in chaos.
Apsu, channeling ancient suburban dad energy, grumbled, “These kids with their fire and their stars and their non-linear calendars… I should smite them all so I can nap.”
Tiamat sighed and kept doom-scrolling on her shellphone.

But before Apsu could get his “smite” on, a sneaky younger god named Ea put him in a deep sleep with a lavender essential oil diffuser and then… assassinated him with a reusable bamboo dagger. Sustainability and patricide—just another day in Babylon.
This enraged Tiamat, who had frankly been putting up with a lot. Betrayed, bereaved, and bloated with rage (and possibly seawater retention), she created an army of chaos monsters—including scorpion men, fanged hurricane poodles, and Karen hydras—and declared war on her divine children.
The gods freaked out. They needed a hero. A champion. A divine being with both combat skills and PR training.
Enter: Barbie, Goddess of War, Wonder, and Wardrobe Coordination.
She descended from her DreamCloud, wielding a sparkling trident, a 90s Power Suit of Invincibility, and a limited-edition Justice Lip Gloss forged in the fires of Babylonian Sephora.
The gods were skeptical.
“Marduk is supposed to be the hero,” said Anu, god of the sky.
“Yeah, but Marduk’s on paternity leave and still figuring out how swaddling works,” Barbie replied. “Besides, I look better in battle armor.”
Barbie faced down Tiamat, who was now forty feet tall and wearing a bodysuit made of kelp and vengeance. The two circled each other above the primordial abyss, exchanging insults and glances.
“You’re just a glorified pool toy!” Tiamat shrieked.
“At least I don’t smell like fermented eel tears,” Barbie replied, flipping her hair so hard it created its own gravitational field.
The fight began. Tiamat unleashed floods, hurricanes, and passive-aggressive comments. Barbie countered with a magical hairbrush of order, a sidekick dolphin with laser eyes, and an empowering girlboss speech that literally rearranged molecules into livable atmospheres.
At the climactic moment, Barbie hurled her handbag of destiny and split Tiamat in half—one half became the sky, the other the earth. The leftover bits were used to make accessories, moonlight, and public transportation.
To celebrate the victory, Barbie held a divine ribbon-cutting ceremony and declared, “Let there be cosmos—now with more pink.”
She organized the elements, distributed star maps, and installed weekly astrology updates across the heavens. She gave humans language, agriculture, and a thriving cottagecore aesthetic.
Marduk eventually showed up, confused and wearing a bib. “Did I miss the war?”
“Yes,” Barbie said. “But I saved you a commemorative tote.”
Moral of the Story: When the world is a mess of monsters, egos, and men who think they’re in charge—send Barbie. She’ll slay the chaos, organize the heavens, and still be home in time for a power brunch with the moon.
