Barbie’s Stand-Up Comedy Routine: “Not Kenough for the BAFTAs!”

Good evening! So, I just got back from the BAFTAs, and let’s just say, it was more like ‘Bring Another Film Trophy, Amigo’ because ‘Barbie’ sure wasn’t getting any.

You know, ‘Barbie’ was not ‘Kenough’ for the Brits. Missed the best film category at the BAFTAs. It’s like trying to fit into a pair of jeans from my 1999 collection – just not happening!

We did get some nominations, though. Actress for Margot Robbie – because who else can make plastic look this fantastic? And Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor – the man’s a living Ken doll, only with more facial expressions.

But here’s the kicker – Greta Gerwig, our director, was left off the best director list. I guess they thought directing a movie about a doll was child’s play. Well, joke’s on them, because the only child’s play here was me, in a sandbox, in Malibu.

And can we talk about the competition? ‘Oppenheimer’, a movie about the atomic bomb. Makes sense, because next to our budget, that’s the only other thing with a blast radius that big.

Then there’s ‘Poor Things’. I mean, with a title like that, did they want the sympathy vote? ‘Please sir, I want some more… awards.’

‘The Holdovers’ – I thought it was a documentary about Ken’s attempts to do his own laundry. Spoiler: he doesn’t hold over well.

‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ – finally, a movie that understands my struggle with maintaining a perfect garden in Malibu.

‘Anatomy of a Fall’ – I relate. Tried walking in stilettos on the beach. Spoiler: sand and high heels don’t mix.

We won Best Comedy at the Critics Choice Awards. I guess the biggest comedic act was thinking I could drive a car without actual feet.

Soundtrack’s got a shot with Billie Eilish and Finneas. The song’s called “What Was I Made For?” I asked Ken that once. He said, “To max out credit cards at the mall.”

Poor Gosling, always the bridesmaid, never the BAFTA bride. But hey, if there was an award for ‘Best Hair in a Motion Picture’, he’d sweep the floor.

Best Adapted Screenplay, too. Our biggest adaptation? Turning my life into a movie without a single scene of me getting stuck in a pink Corvette.

Oscar chances might be slim, despite the nominations. But hey, we did a “For Your Consideration” screening. It was so exclusive, Ken watched it through a toy store window.

But hey, it’s not about the awards. It’s about that $1.4 billion at the box office. Enough to buy Ken a new wardrobe – and maybe a personality upgrade.
